The council are awful. They have confusing signage on orchard st. All the spaces are loading even though there is no need for that many. They don’t support the local businesses by allowing spaces to park. I parked at 7am and after this I’m allowed an hour but they booked me. I tried to appeal and the website would not allow me to attach my evidence. See photo attached of conflicting signage. Worst council , destroying Swansea.

builders working for swansea council, were working in sketty. a few days ago, they were throwing tiles off the roof they were working on. my father was going past on his mobility scooter, and was hit. his iphone was smashed, the scooter was damaged, and he was injured. instead of putting the tiles in a shoot, they were throwing them! (of course, now theres a shoot there).....we will be taking this further

This building looks so scary looks like it came out of a movie or a video game
you know where your hunt zombies

I would politely ask to please demolish or whatever fix this monster. It is so harsh for the human beings passing by.

I went there for council tax exemption receptionist was very nice and it took me literally less than five minutes to do.

Thanks to all people works there.

Found to be issuing fines illegally. Complaints system follows general nonsense of damage limitation rather than addressing the problem. I found Jan Davies to be most unhelpful. but clearly an asset if following legislation is too difficult or not cost effective; great skills at removing pertinent arguments and replacing them with something else and arguing something that was not the issue. Highways Department know they are issuing fines illegally. If they did not then there would be no reason for them to hide behind the generic term of Parking Services'. As it is a DSAR revealed that the Traffic Enforcement Officer believed we were causing an obstruction even though we were not. I have asked for evidence of this 'obstruction' and the council have failed to provide me with any. Had this ended up in court - and it may well do yet - then repeating that under oath would amount to perjury. Evidence is everything and Swansea Council have failed to provide the evidence. Council employees have fiduciary capacity and have a duty to act in the best interests of those they are meant to serve. I certainly didn't see any of that and looking at the other reviews on here, there needs to be an about turn in attitude. The council need to demonstrate that they understand - if they don't already - that individuals are not commercial entities and are not subject to legislation. Most people would be happy to contribute something voluntarily to something that is decent and good. Maybe removing payment meters and installing donation boxes may be a good start to building up a decent relationship with your community and those who, like us, were visitors. People feel good about giving; they do not like being forced into an illegal action by nameless employees.
Just to reiterate what I already stated in my correspondence to the council. Fines are illegal before conviction ( Bill of Rights 1688 article 12) and the council has no authority to act as a court ( Local Government Act 1888 s.78). Please follow your own legislation so that you are acting in proper capacity as public servants/fiduciaries..
The extended correspondence that passed back and forth between Swansea Council and myself will now be used as training material.

Update: -1/10/24 The lack of legislative knowledge that Swansea Council has is concerning. Any motorist who is in a hire car at the time of an alleged traffic contravention is neither the Registered Keeper nor the owner of the conveyance in question. At the moment as Swansea Council are unable to grasp this, they have now incorrectly informed a Debt Collection Agency to collect goods from the Registered Keeper even though the motorist in question was not the Registered Keeper. The council is aware of who the correct Registered Keeper is because when they asked the DVLA for the name of the RK, they were given the name of the hire car company The hire car company informed the motorist of this and, given the circumstances did not require the motorist to pay the £35. That was a sensible outcome. Swansea Council act Ultra Vires. A DSAR made on 02/08/24 has not been actioned. A charge certificate is made out to the Registered Keeper and this charge certificate was especially requested through the DSAR as Jan Davis said it would be made out to the RK. As it was, Swansea Council are still unable to own their mistake and have made it out to the motorist instead of the hire car company. Given that the mistakes keep piling up and since it was found that false information was written up in documents asked for under the first DSAR then I would advise that anyone who has ever been given a PCN by Swansea Council, DSAR's the council for ALL the information whether on paper, by email or telephone transcripts relating to the PCN. More updates will follow.

Would like to post an excellent review of Swansea City Council emergency repair service. We are both in our 70s and not exactly tech savvy! Reported a boiler breakdown Sunday am and within 2 hours a plumber called he was excellent took time to explain how to use timer on thermostat and even replaced batteries we didn't even realise we had to!! Don't know his name but only a young lad 27 he said and lives in Garnant. What a credit to your work force and thank you Swansea City Council for your service. Sue and Hywel Rees

Unorganized mess, no one seems to know what's going on. I'm just glad they don't handle anything important like taxes or something...

I visited Swansea for the first time about a week ago, and mainly drove up and down the coastal roads. And all I can honestly say is what an absolute WASTE of a coastline and city, that could be a great tourist attraction. Who on earth does the planning in this City! I mean who decided to run a dual carriageway (A4067) parallel to the beach! There should be attractions and ornate gardens where the A4067 is! The A4067 should have been much further inland.

If you visit towns like Great Yarmouth or Skegness, they add some nice amusements, shops, and attractions along their coastline, they also provide plenty of carparks too. But Swansea, no, it's as dull as ditch water! Boring is the correct terminology to use here!

With a coastline like Swansea has, it could be "SO" much better. I drove back out of Swansea and possibly won't go back, well not for the coastline anyway!

Go up
