A fantastic village shop that is very well stocked not only with the normal essentials but also some excellent locally made produce (check out the chill cabinets). The selection of items stocked is varied and covers almost everybody’s tastes and needs. It also sells a good selection of beers, wines and spirits I should add. They also have a small selection of stationary too, which is always handy if you have forgotten somebody specials birthday. Although I should add it’s not a post office but it does offer the facility to drop off pre-paid labelled parcels and Special Delivery letters, oh and they sell stamps too.

It also serves some great “proper” coffee which you can take out or sit in and enjoy at a few tables and chairs located in the shops window. Although if the weather is fair then you can sit outside at a couple of tables and enjoy watching the locals go about their daily lives. Or if you want a bit more peace and quiet walk across the village square into the church yard and there is a nice bench behind the church by the path where you can sit and contemplate.

I have always found the staff have to be friendly when I visit the village (about once a month), and yes sometimes you do have to wait a minute or two longer to be served whilst they have a chat with an elderly local, but hey that’s what village life is all about, if you cant spare a bit of your time to allow somebody who is more than likely living on their own in the twilight of their years to have a catch up chat with the staff then maybe this isn’t the shop for you?

Great independent shop in the heart of the village of Whimple, appears to stock almost everything, with friendly staff behind the counter. I pop in from time to time to stock up on the locally baked bread roles and the occasional sweet treat. Have also purchased the odd bottle of cider from the small but varied off-licence section.

Parking can be a bit of a challenge just outside the shop in the village square but there is a small public car park that is just a couple of hundred meters away. The sign for it is on the finger post to the right of the Church’s service time notice board to the right of the church yards steps.

Anyhow please make the effort to support this shop as it is a little gem in an ever-increasing world of supermarket conglomerates.

We are really lucky to have this store in our village. The staff are all extremely nice and go above and beyond to help. They also have a really good selection of locally sourced foods. Highly recommended if you're visiting the area or live locally 5*

What a great little store. Staffed by lovely, friendly people. Stocks an array of items, never fails to amaze me what they do have!. Has post office services and a small coffee shop area. To save you going into town or want to support local people/suppliers worth a visit.

Offers almost everything you need in a village shop. Higher prices but good when essential. Milk is particularly expensive.
