This is by far the best place that I have ever stayed in, ever.
It really is like dying and going to heaven. Surrounded by books on all subjects, from all eras, it is just fantastic.
I'm struggling to find a superlative that does justice to this treasure trove. I stayed in the sea view room, Bob is a lovely host, unfortunately I didn't get to meet Mariko due to her being away.
I'm very definitely coming back here. I really do not want to go home.

I really liked this book shop, but didn't get to spend as much time in it as I would have liked, squeezed in there twice (just)and bought books on both occasions, but funnily enough I thought I'd missed more than I'd seen.
If you do visit this fantastic shop give yourself plenty of time.
Looking forward to returning soon,to browse & undoubtedly buy in your fabulous shop.
Revisited July 2022.
Definitely my kind of bookshop, be seeing you again in July 2023.

In its capacity as a bookshop, you won't need to come looking for anything specific. You'll leave with about five books you didn't know you needed until that point.

As a B&B, it was a genuine treasure to stay at this beachside building. Mariko was a considerate host, we always felt welcome, and her meals were delightful; would definitely recommend asking for her Japanese breakfast.

Convenient parking and location on the high street, you'll struggle to leave with the ocean of books lapping at your heels. Ask to book the sea view and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Can't find a room like this anywhere else.

An Aladdin's cave of hidden treasures. I stumbled upon this by accident and could only look around briefly due to my family pressing on up the hill.
If you want to find rare, unusual, or out of print books, then this is the place for you. I found a rare copy of the Penguin SF collection from 1963. The Zane Grey collection was out of my price bracket.
There are at least 5 different rooms and sections, including an old gramophone room that has music playing in the background as if transported through time.
Worth allocating browsing time for this shop.

Not so much a book shop as a curiosity shop.Dont expect a greeting returned to you from the owner either.I rang to see what kind of books he bought. All books he said. Not really true, only collectors books he can sell I suspect. Just take a handful of books.Dont struggle down the hill with 2 full boxes like I did, because you'll be struggling back up with 2 full boxes. In fact, save the effort and just sell on line yourself.xxx

Perfect bookshop with an extraordinary atmosphere and variety of stock. Very pleasant and knowledgeable proprietor. Can only recommend this establishment: give yourself the time to dig thoroughly and visit all the rooms (and floors!) with the basement being my favourite: a whole hidden world within its walls!
