It is always lovely to visit St. Albans Market. They have more stalls on Saturday than Wednesday but both days will allow you to enjoy a nice market atmosphere.

You can stroll around and get some food then walk to a nearby park to enjoy it while watching some 🐦 living their daily live.

I had some paella πŸ₯˜ last Saturday.
Also got a sourdough from the lovely Brown Bread shop. And lastly a pack of strawberry πŸ“ from one of the fruit stalls.

If you are around St. Albans for a short visit or a long stay, you may want to match your traveling day with the market days.

I loved the market, each stall is set out with plenty of room to manoeuvre around. I saw lots of people with pushchairs and wheelchairs, they had plenty of room to look at each stall and move around.
Lots of variety with the stall holders, who were all lovely and very friendly. The market was very clean even around the stalls selling food. The stall holders take responsibility and look after the market and one another.
Stalls from food , crochet, clothing, foam, materials, picture framing ect. We came across a lovely lady selling honey from Hungary , you got to taste all the honey flavours and she explained the benefits of each one.

The market needs to keep going, it's open every Wednesday and Saturday.

You can find fresh produce, flowers and other amazing deals at St Alban’s market. I got these flower bouquets for Β£5 each from one of the stalls. Travelled down from London (40 min drive from the West) and will recommend other Londoners come here on Saturdays.

The market is steeped in history with a special Royal Charter granted in 1553. However, the market is well documented as far back as the 9th century. The current day market is firmly established in the city centre and runs the length of St Peters Street and Market Place.

From August 2020 the market has extended its footprint to allow for as many traders as possible to have a stall while allowing for the necessary social distancing measures.

Just approaching Christmas 2020 only essential stalls are allowed; including a butcher, cheese monger, bakery goods, takeaway food and lots of fresh fruit & vegetables.

With hundreds of years of heritage sat in the heart of Hertfordshire St Albans charter market is jewel in the crown. Generations of families have worked on stalls forging relationships with other traders and the customers they call friends. Running the length of the busy high street every Wednesday and Saturday are a variety of stalls each offering a service or selling products that are truly unique.

From the street food vendors to clothes, from candles to art, from hats to toys and every imaginable product you can think of. Each is lovingly made or sourced, unpacked and displayed ready for you to purchase. Many items are made in Britain.

Buying from the market means that you are generally buying from a small business which is great! It means you are helping a family to eat! You are investing in a person that cares! It helps the local economy! You will get the best possible service!

You can literally come to St Albans and spend the whole day looking around the city and the market. If you have never been to the town before you will come for the atmosphere but stay for the friendships that you will create with the traders.
