Lovely little Spar supermarket in Tintagel which had everything we needed. Very nice staff at the checkout and when stocking up.

Decent prices, nice cashiers, and a good selection of items. I got an Irn Bru and was informed it is "basically the national drink of Scotland". 10/10 would shop there again, and I probably will anyway.

10/08/24 wow what a difference between customer service this morning to this evening. Customer service this morning lively and friendly, tonight the young lady that served me was very rude, she barely acknowledged me then virtually threw my shipping at me . No please or thankyou! Needs some training in customer service! I never generally leave reviews but felt compelled to after such rude service

Great shop in the heart of Tintagel, been coming to Spar for years and haven't ever really encountered a problem. Queues are rarely long & they generally have everything you would need food wise, including some tailored local products. They open fairly 'late' in comparison to most of the village, meaning you can get what you need and don't really have to worry about going without anything for a day or two. I can't really fault it. Prices are also reasonable for what you would expect within the local area & based on the rest of the village.

My rating is based on the customer service experience from the older lady serving behind the till, she was so rude, after a lovely day visiting Tintagel she tainted it with her impatient attitude and ignorance, this evening 5th August at 8.30pm, half hour from closing time and the shop was not full by any means only myself and 3 kids behind me, the older woman literally shouted at me as she couldn't see what I was asking for right in front of her and she was very annoyed that I was right and she was wrong after raising her voice at me 3 times and then literally gave me the cold shoulder whilst finishing the transaction with a cross demeanor, she could definitely benefit from a refresh on customer service skills or maybe retire in my opinion. Reading back a couple of reviews I don't think this is the first complaint made about this lady, its time her attitude was addressed properly if she's to continue working with the public.

Please accept my apologies for troubling the older lady on the till today by making a purchase. Next time I'll go elsewhere.

My invisibility cloak clearly worked well as both my wife and I were ignored completely.

This is clearly a shop for local people, which is odd as I would guess that most of its income comes from tourism!

EDIT: on reflection this review was perhaps a little too sarcastic.

The reality was that the lady serving on the day I visited was amongst the rudest people I've come across, which seems to be a recurring theme amongst other reviews. Not sure if Spar have or want to grasp this issue.

This shop is fantastic and all the staff are friendly and so helpful. They all perform a great service and treat everyone as a valued customer. All bad reviews on here are from ignorant people who refuse to follow covid guidelines and don't like being told to conform. They are the ones at fault not the staff who are doing a difficult job in difficult times. I salute each and everyone of you. As I could not do your job. I love you all . Big hugs and thanks xx

Saturday the 29th September around 5pm we entered Spar shop which at the time was barely empty with facemasks on(N95s), socially distanced of course. Two of my mates were in front of me and as I walk in i was met by a woman at the till being so rude, 'you can't come in! There should only be one from your household.' I enquired if I can go in as I'm from a different household. She was adamant i was from same household as my lady friend who came in before me. I felt embarrassed by her remarks and felt singled out. One, I'm not with my lady friend as im with a man for 8 years. Second, I never thought id mention my racial background but upon reflection of what had happened, was I a victim of racial profiling by the lady at the till? Did she think i was with my lady friend because we are both Asians?I left the store quietly and my partner was left on his own to shop and carry all our shopping for 3 days and cat litter all by himself.
I feel disgusted by this experience on our first hour at tintajel fortunately the rest of the long weekend went very well and local folks were very friendly. Sorry spar, I am absolutely disgusted by your employee's behaviour.
