Fantastic beach and walks that take in the stunning scenery. Been coming here for years on and off, never bored of it especially when you drive down into the bay for the first time and see those waves. It’s definitely a ‘take your breath away’ moment!!

Cliffs, rocks, caves, beautiful blue water for surfing, perfect for families with children and more. Equipment rentals, including boards, are available in a small town, but everything is accessible. There are a few bars serving cold beer for the dads! Good prices for tourists! It's worth a visit even if you don't want to swim or surf but enjoy long walks near the cliffs. There are walking paths for walkers and dogs are also available! I highly recommend it.magical place only 30 min from Bodmin , parking easy find good sign where is , must see like Newquay

Great sandy beach for children of all age's, wave's great for surfing. Rock pools for exploring. Council carpark on the beach. Several cafes and eating establishments to choose from.

Polzeath Beach, situated on the north coast of Cornwall, is a renowned destination celebrated for its expansive golden sands and excellent surfing conditions. The beach stretches approximately 460 meters in width and extends about 370 meters from the seafront at low tide, though much of the sand is submerged during high tide.  

Surfing and Watersports:

Polzeath is particularly popular among surfers of all levels due to its consistent, slow-breaking waves. Several surf schools operate in the area, offering equipment rentals and lessons:

Wildlife and Nature:

The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, with frequent sightings of dolphins and occasional appearances of puffins. 

Facilities:

Visitors will find a range of amenities to enhance their beach experience:
• Toilets: Public restrooms are conveniently located across the road from the beach car parks. 
• Accessibility: The beach offers level access from the on-beach car park, and sand chairs are available for hire through local providers like Wavehunters. 
• Shops and Cafés: A variety of shops and cafés are situated nearby, providing refreshments and beach essentials. 

Dog-Friendly Policy:

Dogs are welcome on Polzeath Beach with seasonal restrictions. From May 15 to September 30, dogs are not permitted between 10am and 6pm. 

Safety and Lifeguards:

The beach is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during the following periods: 
• Daily from May 4 to September 29, between 10am and 6pm. 
• Additionally, during the Easter school holidays, October half-term, and weekends between April 20-28 and October 5-20. 

Parking:

In addition to the Polzeath Beach Car Park, there are several parking options:
• On-Beach Parking: A small car park directly on the beach. 
• Nearby Car Parks: Additional small car parks close to the beach, as well as larger field car parks on the approach to Polzeath and above the cliffs. 
• New Polzeath: Another car park is available in this area. 

Additional Activities:

Beyond surfing, visitors can enjoy:
• Coastal Walks: Scenic trails lead to Pentire Head and The Rumps, offering panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. 
• Wildlife Watching: The area is rich in birdlife and marine life, including occasional dolphin sightings.

I cannot comment on what the beach is like at the height of summer but in spring it is utterely glorious. There were visitors but not that many and the expanse of beach at low water is incredible. There are rocks to climb and rock pools to play in. In spring dogs are welcome and indeed so are tourists, everyone is so kind and hospitable. It seems the beach is perfect for beginner and intermidetate surfers. I would think the lcoals have different quieter secret spots. Some of the approach roads are narrow and I can imagine that in the busier times of the year there will be some traffic jams and difficulty parking but if you can go out of season then it really is a perfect spot.

Really stunning beach! Lots of surfers about as it’s a good place to catch big waves. Also lots of shops and food places nearby.

If you walk along the beach from the car park and up across the grassy tops, you’ll find Baby Bay. You can access it by walking up the street past the houses and there’s steps leading down onto the sand.

Further on from that is Cowrie Bay which is a very rocky beach and harder to get to but still possible (you’ll have to climb down some slate looking rocks and past the rock pools until you come to the beach itself). But it’s worth the trek as it’s very isolated and the small arches are beautiful places to have picnics in the shade.
