Absolutely appalled by the service.
I went to renew my photo driving license. I went at 09.15 to be told they don’t start that service until 10.00am due to only two staff being in. I went back at 10.00am and there were still only two staff. When I asked for the form I needed and asked for help they said they don’t do that there, but online it says they do. And I’d just seen her help someone with their passport application. I asked to borrow a pen they said they couldn’t, so had to buy some pens. I had to pay extra for my pictures not the £4.50 that it states online because they wouldn’t help. I then asked for scissors, they wouldn’t let me use theirs, so had to buy scissors. As they are based in Ryman’s the cost of pens and scissors were extortionate. At 11.00am I went to finally pay for my postal order to be told it was cash only and I hadn’t got my bank card with me. Where if they had helped in the first place or told me what I needed I would have known. The staff were unhelpful and rude. If you need your driving license renewing don’t go there.

The post office is located within Rymans in the high street and offers various services including Passport and Driving Licence renewals.

If you plan to renew either, please be aware that despite the service being offered as a walk-in service, they only offer it between 10 am and 4 pm. They only have a single tablet available for this service and operate a waiting list. I had to queue up in the main queue and was then told to come back in 20 minutes as there were a few people already on the waiting list. So be prepared to have to hang about!

Apart from having to come back, the manager who dealt with my renewal was polite and professional. The renewal process for a driving license took about 5 minutes.

Great central post office located in Ryman's. Fully comprehensive set of Post Office Services with good opening hours including at the weekend on Saturday until 17.30 (as at June 29th 2024). The Post Office is not open on Sundays but the shop is open until 16.00. Both the Post Office and Ryman's staff are super friendly and very helpful.

A few weeks ago I went to this post office to top up my gas and electricity, where the cashier was extremely rude to and made me feel awkward and uncomfortable, I specifically asked for a certain amount on each key, and she didn't do it correctly. Nothing now can be done about this and I feel that it's not good enough, I would appreciate if someone contacted me as I'm finding it impossible to get any further with this.

Went to a lady named Sue, she was polite and patient while I paid a few bills, a lovely friendly lady. She apologised for the wait even though I barely waited a few minutes.

Staff have always been excellent whenever I have been in here, but all too often they are understaffed... a universal issue with any retail setting, I fear. There is a great range of high quality stationary, and specials every week - Rymans shop and products - and I have always found the queue to move well when there is one at the Post Office counter... I usually time my posting to make sure I take advantage of this post office, near my work place, rather than the one near my home. Keep up the excellent work!
