I bought a collection of books from Littleton Auctions about a year ago and queried if postage was offered. I then enquired how the books would be packed and was told they could be sent in plastic boxes, which I implored them not to.
Despite this a few days later I received (only just) the books, more by luck than judgement. See photo of box below.
When I wrote to complain the MD told me (despite a charge of £40) that they were “doing me a favour and I should be thanking them because I would have paid a lot more through MBE!”
I try to be fair in my feedback.
Please use MBE or any other courier for the postage and don’t expect good customer service from the MD. Everyone else was quite pleasant.

I have always had brilliant service from all the staff at Littleton Auctions, over the years I have bought jewellery and more recently I have bought in their garden and agricultural sales. Descriptions not always full and clear - possibly implying something is more valuable than it is. Check photos very carefully, especially any labels or text shown in them. Beware!!

Recently bought graphic novels with an absentee bid. They absolutely stink of smoke which was not mentioned in the listing. I could've asked for a condition report but you'd think something so glaring would be mentioned especially when a lot of their business is conducted online now through their own web site and various other platforms. If you are going to buy make sure you get see it or at the very least get a condition report.

What an amazing auction house!! Martin and the team are always welcoming and provide a brilliant service to both sellers and buyers. We've dealt with this auction room for many years and always had fantastic service. The atmosphere in the room on auction days is well worth experiencing and you can even get your breakfast/lunch there from their cafe! Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.
