Nice place to visit . Lots to see and do. Interesting artifacts found on this original site of a small settlement. Worth a visit when visiting york. Only 4 stars as it said we would smell lots of different smells from the viking era but myself and wife only smelt one smell all the way round. No wait as booked in advance. Bonus of visiting here there is a superb milkshake and donuts shop next door.

Really good tour and the ride through the Viking village was outstanding, especially for the little ones who always do better with visual engagement. The smells will stick with me for a while. Only downside was the employee operating the ride, he really didn't appreciate getting two young kids on would take a little longer, and was pretty rude in telling them to sit down, maybe some work on social skills and customer relations is in order. Overall, a great experience that I'd really recommend.

Our son is 2 at end of may and it was his first trip to york. Our first time visiting the viking centre and it was great. Staff are great. Pram friendly/family friendly and they even had a storage cupboard to keep pram in while you look around. We had no idea there was a ride but they offered a booster seat for him. He was scared at first but by the middle he was enjoying it. At the end you arrive at the shop and ofcourse we went away with some goodies for him. He specifically loved the black bird soft toy, would not let go of it.

awesome! (however I love vikings) it’s absolutely stunning to see how they executed this museum. The ride is seriously amazing, interesting and educational. The museum part is very well divided as well. A huge bonus (and also what makes this place even more unique) are the employees working there!
We had a chat with a young man (who seriously was so committed & had such a fantastic way of story telling & engaging young, old & anyone in between). I usually don’t take pictures with staff - however please share that he made our day (and arguably the day of many others)! thanks for the interesting talks & for giving us this unique insight into Jorvik.

oh! only one (negative - kinda) thing - please please consider offering themed hoodies or beanies - trust me! it will sell!

It was a very informative and interesting tour. There are guides inside the museum who will answer all your questions. The staff are really helpful and dress a strong Viking attire. All the staff are highly professional and very informative. To my surprise there was a gondola like ride which takes you inside the museum Viking village which was fun, You get your monies worth. Highly recommend!! Also suggest you take a coin as a souvenir made the old Viking way.

Great experience unexpected ride but was good... Friendly and helpful staff

Edit: it's quite dark inside at times and I found this difficult because I have a visual impairment. However there was an audio description option in English whilst on the ride, and I found viewing some of the scenes through my phone was better because it enabled me to see the scenes which are very dimly lit (to me they looked black because I have night blindness)

Absolutely wonderful! Totally worth the time and money! The glass floor, the ride and the collection of artifacts - everything was beautiful.
Ofcourse the journey through the Viking Age- I was stunned and amazed throughout it! If you're in York this is a must visit. I was pleasantly surprised with the costumes of the staff and every aspect that was taken care of - their shoes, earrings n other ornaments, purse - everything was wow.
I also loved the segment where the Viking house was set up and a member of the staff was interacting with us, telling us some stories n addressing our questions. They were very generous to let me do the ride again when I requested.
2 hours I was just lost in history.
A complete wow experience!
