I passed by here on my bicycle. Going from Leeds to Kendal. It was very brief. I stopped my bicycle at the front entrance. There were a couple of staff having a smoke, and it was early morning. I asked 'are you open?' A lady who seemed like a manager, counter asked 'what is it you're wanting us for?' I said 'to charge my phone, and just use the toilet.' She said 'oh NO. We don't let just anyone come in off the street and do that.' I said 'oh, I didn't realize.' She continued 'there are public toilets around the corner.' I asked 'do they have plugs?' She said she didn't think so. So I said 'OK, well, thank for your help' and rode away.

Really poor. Its a community centre. Funded, I'm guessing, through council tax money. I know that in Leeds, all tax payers are considered 'the public,' and I've never heard of someone being turned away from a public building simply because they're 'just anyone.' I mean, I'm a tax payer. Until communities in the UK start outright banning people for not being tax payers to the correct council, I think this lady is outright asking to be fired eventually. Seeing as the public toilets are also free, its not like it really matters whose toilet I'm using. Last time I checked, there wasn't public toilet rationing in place. And my phone charge takes about 2 pence of energy.

Tuesdays pop up pantry . Great all day breakfast which includes a brew, round of toast, bacon, sausage, mushroom, black pudding, fried tomatoe.
With special's of the day and many other choices including home baked cakes. It's cash only but the post office is open on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bonus that all monies go to keeping the community centre open.
