I'm sitting here at 3.20 am, here since 11.30pm, waiting for the earliest train at 5am and someone decided to put barriers between the seats so I can't lay down without being on the floor. What a wonderful world.

The staff are very friendly. The ferry trip was brilliant as the staff ensured I was cared for. (hidden disability) they ensured I was safe when I had a seizure. And made sure I was with a member of staff while waiting to board. Cannot fault them at all.

I have always found Hollyhead quite disappointing, with the amount of traffic that goes thru the port every day you would think the place would be better kept, it's old in places, and 1970 planning in others. Not a place to hang around in.The pictures are of the Swift and the Ulysses

It’s a beautiful port in Wales on Irish Sea coast. It’s just 75 miles away from Ireland. It’s easy to via sea to Ireland from here and it takes only 3 hours. There is a stunning beach with a breakwater there called Newry beach.

Modern ferry port serviced by Stena and Irish Ferries with routes to Dublin several times a day.
Easy walking distance paid parking nearby, train station with direct access to the ferry terminal, next door.
Facilities are good, with toilets, cafe/shop (reasonably priced), a couple of vending machines (expensive).
Also houses the checkin desks for Stena and Irish Ferries, alongside a Hertz car rental desk and train ticket desk.

I love Holyhead Ferry Terminal, 7 months and 3 days ago I took a ferry from here which changed my life forever.

3 Years today, I met Enya on a commuter train to Fratton Station, we saw one another a few times and eventually I worked up the guts to say hello and ask about her day - it wasn’t long before I fell madly in love with her.

After spending as much time as we physically could together, Enya’s work contract came to its end and on a sunny but chilly September afternoon, I sat on the wall of my old house and waved Enya goodbye as she drove back to Ireland - with a slightly sad but confident smile that we would reunite and be living in amongst each others lives again soon.

I went back into the house and in what felt like a punch to the stomach my flatmate told me he needed to leave. Having to find somewhere to live on such short notice, I knew it would now be months until Enya and I could be together again - the person, my person who had so deeply and effortlessly integrated into my life was now hundreds of miles away with no sure sign in sight of being together again. This really weighed on me.

I stayed in a spooky, dingy one bedroom flat in a building where seemingly only lonely old men lived over the winter months - Enya was always there to support me and assure me that together we would work it all out whenever I began to spiral.

I’ve never felt part of a group or a team and most of my life have been a loner, Enya’s the only person who I’ve ever felt truly teamed up with, she motivated me to stay focused and work on getting us back together rather than dwelling on things out of our control and being upset - if the goal was to be with Enya, then this wait was nothing to me.

Any feeling of hardship or sadness would always be outweighed by knowing, at the end, I get to see Enya.

We would visit each other as much as we could, slowly but surely drafting plans and looking at our options until one day, Enya’s viewing houses in Belfast and found us a cute little 3 bedroom place with a garden! I was able to pull on my company's emotional heart strings and before we knew it, I was packing my car with everything I owned and driving up from Portsmouth to the Holyhead Ferry Terminal.

Somehow the wait was over, somehow we had done it, somehow Enya and Solly were back together again!

I love Holyhead Ferry Terminal, thank you for making my life up here, my life with her possible. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so happy or so content in my entire life and everyday I just feel incredibly lucky that 3 years ago that beautiful girl on the train was actually willing to talk to me.

I love Holyhead Ferry Terminal, but maybeeeee not as much as I love Enya.

Lovely ship, needs for irish/uk plugs for charging devices. Plenty of EU plug sockets. So bring adapter. I ate in French restaurant, not great for the money. Burger and chips.

Does everything a port needs to do really. Always found it weird that the ferries out to Dublin are much quicker than the return leg. Fairly spacious waiting room, short queue times to get checked in and friendly enough staff on site (they do still have a job to do of course though) .
