Fabulous stay, having stood outside in the cold for four hours watching my son play 2 football matches. Facilities were great, swimming pool, sauna and gym and great value for money. Breakfast included in the price for all four of us and the family room was big enough to manoeuvre around nicely. Staff were very helpful and approachable and hotel was clean and layout was perfect. Oh and parking was free which is a bonus.

A very comfortable stay while visiting family in the area.
Excellent facilities, comfortable beds with super clean bathroom and tea/coffee making items.
Really surprised with the quality of the shower gels and shampoos, very impressive.
All in all, excellent value for money and super friendly staff who were always smiling and keen to help.

Nice, big clean room with a nice supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in our room, however the jacuzzi wasn't working and apparently hasn't been working in a very long time. I wish this was stated on the website or someone had informed us beforehand. As this was the main reason for booking this hotel, I was quite disappointed. The walls are also incredibly thin, so be warned as we could hear couples' conversations through the walls. This being said, the Holiday Inn was good for a short stay and would probably recommend

Stayed here for 2 nights for a work trip with several colleagues.|The first impression I had when checking in around 4:30pm, was children and parents bustling around whilst I tried to get to the desk. Check-in was efficient and I was given a room on the ground floor, which I was surprised and apprehensive about, being a lone female. I'd seen the layout of the hotel was mainly one level, so I carried on to my room. |Opening the door, I was greeting with overpowering air freshener. This was so strong that it caused me to have a headache- although visiting my colleague later on on the first floor, hers was far stronger. The room was ok, and sadly the best phrase for it was a polished turd. It was apparent that renovations had been done; the furniture was fairly new, as were the carpets and curtains. But the room itself was exceptionally tired and in need of repair. The single pane windows were draughty and let in the road noise of the M4, the radiator had peeling paint, as did the door in the bathroom. It was also freezing, so I turned on the air conditioning to heat- however, this turned itself off. |The room was clean. There was a mark on the pelmet of the bed, but I didn't come across dust or anything sticky or untoward. The sofa was comfortable and was nice to relax on rather than clambering over the bed. There was one USB socket by the bed, a couple of sockets on the desk/vanity and one over by the kettle station. This was fine for me and what I needed as a lone occupant. The TV was ok, quite an old LCD and the channels were all muddled so I had to use the guide. The sleep timer and alarm both worked well on there. |The bathroom was exceptionally small and difficult to manoeuvre in to. The shower was missing the cover for the thermostatic tap, and when I used the shower it became apparent that the thermostat had failed. The water, set to 38°c as standard, must have been around 60°c. If I hadn't have been cautious and just got straight under the water, I would have been scalded.|Dinner was... Interesting. Few guests were eating in the restaurant and I joined my colleagues for dinner. Staff were few and far between and in the end, it took an hour before we ordered. Granted, when first asked, we were not ready- but it was a good 40 mins later before anyone checked again. I'm not sure what happened with the tap water; we took a sip and all joked that they had filled it up in the swimming pool. It was such a terrible taste that after dinner I walked over the road to the M&S to get a bottle of water for my room. The food quality of my colleagues meals looked good and they enjoyed it. Mine however, came out way after everyone else's, with peas cooked like bullets. Needless to say, we ate out at the Miller and Carter down the road the following evening.|Breakfast was good- 2 machines for coffee/tea so not too long to wait, then offerings of cereals, pastries, meats, cheeses and yoghurt and cooked breakfast. The sausages also had a choice of pork or Cumberland - I tend to judge a breakfast on the quality of sausage served and these were good. |Myself and my colleagues intended to use the gym/pool during our stay, but work timings didn't allow it in the end. However, a lovely member of staff showed us around. The pool is small, but fine for laps- the jacuzzi was not working. The sauna looked ok, and the gym equipment was decent for such a small space. |Overall- the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was easy to get to from the M4, about 10 mins drive into the Old Town, and close by Great Western Hospital. The garage with M&S literally located across the car park was handy to have too. |I've you're not too precious and just need a clean room with a bed- this will do nicely. If you want some comforts- pick a different hotel.

We weren't expecting much from this hotel but were pleasantly surprised. The room was excellent value for money and was nicer than anticipated. Yes, this is an older hotel and it shows in places, but everything was clean and comfortable.|We booked a twin Premium room which had nice extras such as robes & slippers provided. The room wasn't huge and so the twin beds were almost touching - that was fine for us as we're good friends but perhaps would be a bit weird if you were sharing with a colleague, for example.|We had problems with the aircon not staying on for more than a couple of minutes. Not a big problem in December - we just opened a window - but I imagine would be very uncomfortable in the summer months.|There were a few other niggles - there was a coffee machine in the room but no coffee pods supplied and we only received one pack of complimentary biscuits (so 3 custard creams to share between the two of us). The room was otherwise well equipped with a mini fridge, hairdryer, iron and ironing board.|The bathroom is quite small but fine for a single person at a time. The shower is a walk-in style enclosure with pleasant toiletries supplied in pumps to use (shower gel, shampoo and conditioner). I found the shower pressure a little weak.|The pool and gym are both quite small but adequate for a short stay. The pool was clean and warm - unfortunately the hot tub was out of order when we visited.|The hotel is situated fairly close to a main road but traffic noise wasn't an issue during our stay. There is a garage with M&S shop next door (2 mins' walk) which was handy for emergency snacks!|All of the staff were very welcoming and we genuinely felt welcome here. I will look forward to staying again.

1 night away - proved not so relaxing. We have stayed at this Holiday Inn before, staff are always friendly and helpful. We had a premium room with fridge and kingsize bed. The room was clean but looking dated, furniture from the 90's and the smallest bathroom I think I've ever been in, floor space was less than 1mtr sq, but bathroom was modern and clean, decent shower. we wanted a relaxing afternoon and night away with a bit of shopping and swimming etc. The people in the room next door had other ideas - they were very shouty and had very very noisy kids. I did complain to reception as it was so bad, but the hotel was full and we couldn't be moved, they did have a chat and the family (of 5) went to the bar. They did wake us early next morning with the same and banging doors around 8 am on Sunday - The pool was a bit chillier than you'd expect and the Spa bath was roped off as it was broken. Breakfast was ok, area was a bit chilly and this didn't help with the warm food, coffee was good and selection was good. The reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel is it's rooms are feeling and looking tired and you can do better for same budget.

we visited Swindon Christmas market - if I could give it 0 stars I would - worst Christmas market ever, 50% of stalls not let, no shoppers, no Christmas buzz, no festive food, really really poor. A bit of a town on its last legs feel sadly. Designer outlet was much better, very Christmassy and a good vibe, cheaper parking a great options for food and drink. We went to the Chef and Brewer for dinner. Average tbh

Swindon done.

Wanting accommodation Boxing Day we opted to book a Holiday Inn rather than an 'Express' as we needed a restaurant and felt at more than twice the price of the 'Express' that we were going for 'a touch of luxury'. How wrong was I! The staff on reception were the usual standard we expect from IHG hotels, but the bar/restaurant staff were on the whole inexperienced. No specific restaurant - a group had taken over a separate room which left us in the bar area. The electronic ordering tablets didn't work - took money but were not connected to bar so after a 1/2 hour wait for the drinks my wife approached the bar to be told they were not working - she didn't expect to get a coffee that was over ÂŖ4 for to arrive in a paper cup! It only got worse when I came in and ordered at the bar a diet coke and coffee - to be declined both on the basis that they don't do diet coke - no alternative - coffee machine not working! Being boxing day we did stay in the hotel for our evening meal - which took so long to arrive (a very average 'reheated' lasagne) there was no option to have a desert. Finally it was dark when we arrived at the hotel so we closed the curtains when we got to our room - very small room, which couldn't have been further from reception on the first floor, with the tiniest double bed we had ever seen! The pack of 3 digestive felt more like an after thought than a 'welcome'. In the morning when I opened the curtains I was horrified to find condensation and mould around the window frames. Certainly wouldn't not recommend or stay at this hotel again. Only saving grace was the usually high standard of breakfast.

Stayed here for one night in January 2025. Location is average. Check in experience was very good. Friendly and very helpful staff. Has a very large free car park. Hotel is a bit dated in some places but bathroom was very mordern and high standard. Room was comfortable with very good facilities. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of items. Restaurant area was fairly large. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel has a gym and a swimming pool. Overall, an excellent place to stay in Swindon. Highly recommend.
