If you're in Cowes and need to cross the Medina River, the Floating Bridge is the way to go! I've used it a bunch of times, and it's always a neat little experience. It's super convenient, especially if you're not up for a long drive around.

The ride itself is quick and smooth. You just roll on with your car, or walk on if you're on foot, and in a few minutes, you're on the other side. It's pretty cool seeing the river up close and watching the other boats go by while you cross. Plus, the views are lovely, especially on a sunny day.

The staff are always friendly and helpful, making sure everything runs smoothly and safely. It's also quite affordable, which is a bonus if you need to use it regularly.

Overall, it's a practical and pleasant way to get across the river, whether you're commuting or just exploring the area. Definitely give it a try if you're in Cowes!

it doesn't always have a reliable service, however, the convenience is a great advantage. We like walking around East Cowes, the Floating Bridge is a quick way to get their from Thorness, and the staff are always obliging.

Not a bad service now it's actually working, can be a bit slow as they seem to have limited staff loading (staff loading are also driving it), but it's a convenient way to get across so long as you don't just miss it otherwise you'll be waiting a while. Just be careful driving on if your car is a low rider. Also, under 19s are free as foot passengers which is great.

Inexpensive trip! Just a little bit slow loading and unloading. Interesting watching the cars going on and off though, few close shaves with the vehicle undercarriage and the ramp, kept us occupied.
Staff friendly and enjoyed the experience though.

DO NOT USE THIS BRIDGE! It's a short cut between Cowes west and east. For a very short crossing of literally 3min approx, the wait time for us was approx 30min even though it's ment to only 10-15min. The worst bit was the disembarking from the bridge. The design of the bridge is such that the bridge and the concrete slop create essentially a V shape meaning the front bumper of the car hits the concrete slope and then is dragged forwards as the car goes up the slope to join the road. Regardless of whatever height the car is, the bumper will hit the concrete. Absolutely pathetic design created for property damage.

The alternative to the bridge is a round circuit road travel of approx 40min to add to pollution and stress. Clearly those In authority don't wish for travellers to be at ease.

Really cool chain pulled barge, if your using your car ve very careful embarking and disembarking as the ramp is very steep

Unfortunately, the new chain link ferry isn't working at the mo, so you can get a boat which takes you across instead. No cars though, just foot passengers.
