My firm engaged Edwin Coe to support us on an acquisition of a UK based industrial business. We were introduced to Sean and Jamal, who co led the relationship at EC, by a lawyer who was close to our network, so they came well recommended. In my decades of doing business internationally, I have never experienced such abysmal service by a lawfirm that prides itself with being a “top tier firm”. We have worked with some best lawyers in the country and it’s safe to say Edwin Coe rank extremely low in terms of expertise and service. Throughout the acquisition of the business , we were catching errors in their work that ended up costing us. Further, they were unapologetic about their mishaps instead of owning up and finding opportunities to do better.
Jamal and Sean also attempted to utilize loan shark tactics when attempting to retrieve bills that were unsubstantiated after my firm paid 10s of thousands in fees for the transaction, on time and in full. Yet when we terminated our relationship as a result of the poor service and expertise we were receiving, they personalized the relationship and resorted to strong arming tactics to attempt to gain an advantage over my firm.
I would caution any one or firm who’s looking to engage them for work to stay away and find another lawfirm, literally any law firm in London would do a better job.
They are extremely difficult to work with, lack client engagement and proper professionalism when dealing with clients.

We engaged Edin and Coe, specifically Brenna Baye, the head of Construction, with the hope of receiving legal guidance and advice to clarify our legal standing. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the presence of a trainee solicitor who lacked the necessary competence in their field. This trainee solicitor simply summarized information we were already aware of and suggested actions that we had already considered. What was missing from their service was a deeper analysis of the implications of each potential course of action and a lack of insight into the best and most cost-effective steps to take.

To add to our disappointment, Brenna proposed to charge us a substantial £750 for a 30-minute phone call. This demand came after we had already paid them £1500 and received no meaningful value in return. This additional request for payment was both surprising and unreasonable, leaving us feeling that we had wasted our financial resources.

In summary, our experience with Edwin and Co was less than satisfactory. We advise others to steer clear of their services, as we found them to be a poor investment, providing minimal value for the fees they charged.
