My husband has tried on three occassions tried to get an answer as to whether his licence has been sanctioned to be able to drive our motorhome. It is almost two months since the relevant paperwork was submitted. The first time he was told it takes three weeks. The relevant forms had been with them one month. It is now two months since the forms were sent. Yesterday they couldn’t take calls at two different times of day and this morning they are not taking calls. When do the actually do some work!!

Truly the most useless service. 3 to 5 days for a paper logbook, we’re in the 21st-century for a start… Additionally, whenever you call customer services. the line is cut off and advises that they are receiving too many calls at that time?! And then the live chat is straight from 2003. The audacity to charge me Ā£80 for a retention certificate and then provide 0 level of service.

Absolute joke of a service. Called them to sort out an issue that has been ongoing for over two years. I was on the phone for two hours and eventually had to end the call as no one answered. Useless service. I have been chasing them constantly, everytime I talk to someone I have to start the process from scratch as they have no clue whats going on. Its caused me severe mental health getting this sorted!!

Absolutely shocking. True reflection of how crap and incompetent our government agencies have got. I feel for anyone that has to deal with this lazy, poor excuse of an authority. Reapplied for my license, sent a cheque in the same envelope all marked up, with the correct amount on. Guess what! DVLA LOST it, yes lost it. Woman even said they ā€˜lost’ on the phone. Now I’ve been given 14 days to send the moneyšŸ˜‚ that’s what’s stated on a letter I received today, which is dated 10 days ago. So I’ve got 4 days to send another cheque. These lazy incompetent don’t work weekends obviously so once again, I’m screwed over by DVLA. Why are we paying these crap agencies when they can’t complete the simple basic tasks the fulfill their entire job. Disgusting.

I passed my driving test on the 16th. A couple of days later, on the 18th, I updated my address online. Unsure if the full licence would be sent automatically, I did some research and found out I needed to post my pass certificate, a D1 form, and my provisional licence. I sent everything off on the 19th.

Surprisingly, on the 20th, a brand-new provisional licence with my updated address arrived at my new address. After waiting patiently for two weeks with no sign of my full licence, I called DVLA for an update. To my shock, I was told my application had been returned on the 28th, but they refused to explain why over the phone, saying the reason would be inside the envelope.

It’s now the 2nd of September and I’m still waiting for my rejected application to arrive back so I can start the process all over again. My guess is that it was rejected because I sent my old provisional (with the old address) rather than the new one they had literally just issued me.

This feels incredibly inefficient. The DVLA system clearly shows that I’ve passed my test but it’s unclaimed and that I’ve been issued a new provisional with my current address. Instead of processing my full licence, they’ve added unnecessary delays and extra work for both sides. Really disappointing internal logistics and a frustrating experience overall. I had planned to get an international driving license and drive abroad, now I have to amend my plans. Just because of this unnecessary bureaucratic nonsense. I spent ££££, drove for over 60h, studied every day and passed on my first attempt for two months to have them delaying everything when they have all the resources at their fingertips. Disappointed.

Now the good. In comparison to other reviews. All the times that I’ve called them. Most of my calls get through within 2min max and even on the webchat. They have a very professional and well spoken on the phone. Although unable to give you peace of mind on the state of your application if they haven’t processed their mail digitally yet. So, still very inefficient.

On the Google search it states they close at 1630hrs. Got there at 1613hrs, reception was already closed. Meet someone as well waiting from 1603hrs to be attended to. No one was available both sides. Had to ask staff coming in for their shift. We were told we had to come before 1545hrs.Lucky for some to leave early from work and still get paid.

Disgusting. They took my van, and then charged me £800 as a courtesy. They wouldn't even allow me to pay in installments. I work full time but have been living in my overdraft for 2 years. I had to spend my entire overdraft on this fine or I would of been taken to court and had my other vehicle taken off me. I can no longer afford food for a month. Nothing but common thieves. This system is a disgrace to the common man. I wish I could say what I really think but we all know the Gestapo will come knocking. Thank you for our struggles.
