Such a caring , knowledgeable bunch of people. This was my second adoption since 2012 and I couldn't be happier with our new family members and the care and advice given from this wonderful place . If you are not wanting to adopt please think about giving by way of donating or gifting . ❤️

Can't thank Dogs Trust Leeds and everyone there enough for arranging the adoption of our already beloved dog Millie. All the staff we interacted with we're friendly and warm and couldn't have picked a better dog for my boyfriend and I.

I'm writing this review as a warning to other working families who, like us, were eager to provide a loving home to a dog in need. Our experience with Dogs Trust was incredibly disappointing and left us feeling judged, not judged as prospective pet owners, but as working people.

The process started promisingly enough. We attended the Dogs Trust in Leeds, fell in love with a few potential dogs, and submitted our application. That's when the problems began. It became clear that our working schedules were a major issue. We were repeatedly questioned about how we'd care for a dog while working, despite having a reasonable plan in place for cover. It felt like they assumed that because we weren't at home 24/7, we were unfit to adopt.

We tried to address their concerns. We explained our flexible work arrangements, however none of this seemed to sway them. The message was clear: working families need not apply.

This isn't about Dogs Trust wanting the best for dogs. It's about outdated, discriminatory ideas of what makes a good home. Newsflash: it's about love, commitment, and responsibility, not a stay-at-home parent. We would have provided all of those things, along with a comfortable lifestyle and top-notch care.

In the end, we had to go elsewhere to adopt. It broke our hearts to leave the idea of rehoming one of the dogs we'd chosen behind, but we couldn't keep subjecting ourselves to such a biased process. Dogs Trust is missing out on many potential families who just happen to have jobs.

To working families reading this, don't waste your time. Look into private rehoming or more open-minded shelters. Your ability to care for a dog isn't defined by your employment status. To Dogs Trust, rethink your policies. You're failing the very animals you're supposed to help by limiting their adoption chances.

This place is unbelievable. There main aim is to match the dog with person. If they don't think you are suitable they will let you know. We have got the most adorable puppy and we love her to bits. The staff are brilliant and really care about the animals. I would recommend any one wanting a new pet to contact the dogs trust. The aftercare is first class too. Thank you dogs trust for giving us chance to give our Mavis a lovely home!

Clearly having someone at home 24/7 after reading other comments dogs trust doesn't see that hardworking folk needs a dog to come too so clearly they don't have dogs at home then well after reading up I won't be using them and no choice to personalise your choices is wrong too I love staffies and I won't get any other breed end of so no I will adopt elsewhere now . Thought was there 👍 if I wanted to be a fireman I wouldn't apply for a butchers job would I.........

We have rung and tried to go to so many places as we want to adopt a dog.

The only people who have said yes come on over were The Dogs Trust at Leeds. Apart from 3 days, they are open to the public from 12-4pm, although you should always check before setting off.

Two days are set aside for appointments, meet and greets, etc.

On arrival, taying on the A64 to Leeds, it's not far past the turning for the A1(M) if you are coming from York. I think it took us around half an hour each way. It's well signposted, but you do come upon it suddenly. I use Google Maps and I put the address in from their website and then click on the actual place. This means we are actually going to the actual place and not the postcode. There's plenty of parking and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. For us, it just made a lovely change to being told "Oh no, people don't come on site, not since covid". What has Covid got to do with dogs being met or adopted? Is there any wonder they ma
