Currencies Direct (Currency Exchange)

I've used currencies Direct for both business and personal transfers to Europe, USA and the far East for several years now with never a problem. Payments don't need to be huge, I regularly send just a few hundred Dollars and these transactions are dealt with just as efficiently as the larger ones. I thoroughly recommend Currencies Direct.

Laughably bad internal processes. Large (for an individual) transfer required to land with receiving bank on the same day. Transaction executed early in the day - I receive a call at 16:55 (5 mins before they clock off for the day) from the Compliance team requiring checks on the receiving counterparty at the last minute. Transfer didn't go through in time, causing significant issues. No reasons given for the long delay in arranging the transfer, then coming back at the end of the day for checks, rather than simply doing them there and then when arranging the transfer earlier in the day. Customer service and follow-up non-existent, zero contrition shown. Use a competent FX business if you want your transfers to get there on time.

I am not sure this platform provides most competitive exchange rates nor I am sure the platform acts in the best interest of their clients if the rate is not secured (locked) prior to sending funds to their account. However, if you are happy with a quoted rate, and you lock it, members of their team process transactions with great speed, efficiency and clarity. It was a privilege to deal with Nikola Pawlovska, one of the account managers. Nikola was exceptionally polite, informative and professional. If she wasn’t available to take a call she would call me back promptly and replied to my emails in no time. I was also kept informed by email about received funds as well as when transfers were completed. It took only a few hours for funds to end up in recipients’ account abroad. For that reason I have no hesitation to recommend Nikola and Currencies Direct provided you are happy with a secured quoted exchange rate.
