Every time I come here, the young girl with dark blonde hair is usually the only one serving - she’s an absolute gem: polite, considerate, friendly and helpful, and working under difficult conditions. The same cannot be said for her co-worker "Jodie".

This woman usually sits behind the counter with a plastic screen, which sometimes makes it difficult to hear her, especially as she mumbles. When this was brought up she rolled her eyes at us and began shouting extremely loudly - this was incredibly embarrassing.

Not once did she smile during the entire encounter, and looked miserable. We felt like a burden, simply for trying to post a package.

We come here quite often and noticed this is her typical behaviour. She also never wears uniform and her general appearance is scruffy and unkempt, not in keeping with the rest of the store employees.

On a general level, the store is understaffed, which becomes significantly worse during lunchtime when one of the two employees leave for a lunch break. Some customers were turned away (i.e. for passport photos) because only one member of staff was on duty.

Whilst the staff are very good, the office is woefully undersraffed. My shortest ever wait has been 13 minutes and usually it's a lot lot longer. The self serve tills are very rarely switchd on. When I recently asked if they were broken., the reply was no I just haven't switched them on. Probably the worst post office in the area by a country mile. It can be quicker to walk to the next nearest post office and back then use this one.

I would also add that the office is managed and staffed by whsmith employees and not post office. So the problem is WHSmiths, let's see if it changes once the sale has gone through.

Staff clueless on road tax which is only able to be done at the post office. Unable to tax a car and have to wait due to them submitting a form knowing I need to tax it. But then proceeding to submit the form and tell me after we cannot tax it as they've sent thr form. Ridiculous

The team at the Post Office in Chesterfield are always very friendly and helpful when I visit. It's important to us that our lovely customers receive their parcels quickly and that they are delivered with care. For me the little things are the big things, the team always take care to stick the stamps on neatly which makes a big difference to the first impression when the parcels are delivered. It's this attention to detail which makes the difference and is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jodie and Post Office Team!

Appalling. Always understaffed. Every time I go (it is my nearest) I think it can't possibly be as bad as last time will give them another chance and every time always manage to disappoint. Is worth the trek to a branch further away.

Must be the worst shop ever. Never more than 2 counters open even though they have six. Two self service machines never operating. You need to allow a couple of hours to get served. Smith’s ought to be ashamed of this consistently dreadful service.

Went in today. Should have known better and gone elsewhere. Self service machines not on as they haven’t been for months. They may as well take them out. Three staff, as usual just one serving and other two involved in tasks that are evidently more important than the customers. The one serving was plainly ill. I don’t know whether this caused her to charge me £2.20 and £3.69 for packages which both contained one single cd. Didn’t seem overly pleased to see me immediately return, although I was refunded promptly.
It doesn’t seem possible for this place to get any worse, but they do. Now switch the machines on or take them out!

We are a local motor dealer who regularly use this post office for parcels but mainly vehicle logbooks. Now if anyone has had anything to do with DVLA paperwork, you will be aware how complicated it can be !! Thankfully, there is the fantastic manager Jodie, who we often deal with and comes to our rescue with a smile and great professionalism, making the job far easier. A few people on here “whinging “ about the queues, they need to be a little more patient and realise that there will be busy and quiet times in any business. You can’t employ extra staff for the few unknown random busy hours for them to be stood idle when it is quiet ! Thanks to all the staff here. Fantastic work guys, keep it up 👍
