Given that my hubby's great grandma was a Mackenzie, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit since we happened to be staying in Inverness when there was an open day at Castle Leod!
We loved the stories that were shared with us, and other visitors, while we viewed the inside of the castle.

Beautiful castle, full of the families history, and great story telling historian’s. Evan had the luck of meeting the current Earl. Probably the most interesting castle I visited this trip. If it’s open, I really recommend going!

A beautiful old Highlands castle in excellent condition. If you're lucky, the Earl Cromartie himself might make an appearance (he and his family still occupy the castle). Our guide was Sonny, who is a fantastic story teller if you're fortunate enough to get him.

Fantastic day visiting this place as a McKenzie it was wonderful to meet the people hear. I love it is still family owned (advise check open days as family still live here) and run not like all these wonderful places that have been took over by big companies great stories from the gentleman on first floor he is not afraid to tell you private stories of the past will be back again

Beautiful castle and history. The grounds are gorgeous! This is the home of the Chief of the clan MacKenzie, Earl of Cromartie, whose family has lived here for more than 500 years. If you are lucky, you may see Lord Cromartie at home. A very kind host!
