Fabulous fish n chips. Cod and chips both cooked fresh and to perfection, also the curry sauce is one of the best I've ever tasted, I know it's a bold statement, but it really is that good. Also the young lad who served/waited us was fabulous. Fully recommend.

I had just biked here along the trail and walked a couple of laps before decking to have lunch here. All staff were very friendly and gave great service. I opted for the Regular Haddock with mushy peas, although curry sauce was the other option. The fish was sublime, a crunchy battery and perfectly cooked haddock inside. It came with a bowl of chips that I just about managed to eat. This was one of the Best Fish & Chips I’ve had in a long while. So glad I biked here.

We went to Bens' for lunch on 19th October (2 Adults and 2 children) Which happened to be the Sea Shanty festival in Mevagissy. The atmosphere in the restaurant was absolutely brilliant and even though it was very busy, this did not take away from the quality of the food and the service we received.

We bought a variety of different dishes and all arrived at the table in good time! Our children both had the kids basket meals which could have fed an adult and were great value! They also came with a dessert which the kids were very happy with.

The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome throughout.

We will not hesitate to come back again!

Having read other reviews, we came to Ben's fish and chip restaurant, in Mevagissey, with high hopes of something better than your average establishment. The menu offered 'fish of the day' pan fried, but the fish of the day was simply cod. A little disappointing when other fish are available. The main fish offering was Hake, Haddock and Cod. Ordered hake but, you've guessed it, no hake. Had the haddock instead, which I have to say was cooked very well. The chips were good too, and the curry sauce was nice and punchy. But the pea fritter I ordered wasn't available, despite it being early in the day. It wasn't busy either, but it was clear that they wouldn't make a fresh one (literally a 2 minute job). Whilst my family and I enjoyed what we did get, the overall experience was nothing out of the ordinary. My advice to Ben's would be, not to offer specials and items that you're not prepared to serve, as it simply creates customer disappointment. Better to stick to a more basic menu, that you can deliver against, so that customers concentrate on the excellent way you cook it, rather than the disappointment of ordering something that you can't provide.

The best fish and chips. Delicious cod with lovely crispy batter. Great chips, nice and crispy outside and soft inside and amazing homemade curry sauce.
Service from young Charlie was excellent, very attentive. He came to us as soon as we came in the door. Lovely friendly chap.

Our first visit to Ben's Plaice was absolutely delightful! The food was cooked to perfection — the beef brisket loaded fries were incredible, and the fish, served in gluten-free batter, was truly spectacular. I don't usually enjoy battered fish, but this time I ate every bite — it was that good. “You have to try it!”

To top it all off, they serve alcohol — a pint and a glass of wine paired perfectly with our meal.

We were extremely happy with the food, service, and drinks. We’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend Ben's Plaice for a generous, scrumptious meal.

Fabulous place. Friendly service. Humongous portion of chips. I had the burger which was delicious. Hubby had the medium fish which was big and very tasty. Lovely coffee too. Would definitely recommend.
