Asda Gosforth Superstore - Newcastle upon Tyne

We used to shop regularly at Asda Gosforth when we lived a bit closer and the kids were at local schools so this was the first time we’d been in quite a while since moving. The whole store has really gone downhill. Outside areas are poorly maintained and litter strewn. Inside is drab and the state of the aisles and shelves quite shocking. Low stock levels are common these days in most supermarkets but no excuse for such untidiness. Made for a very unpleasant shopping experience. Staff used to be friendly and upbeat. Don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes but the atmosphere is dour. Come on Asda, give the place and people a bit of much needed tlc.

Great shop, nice and clean. Easy to navigate and get around due to large aisles. Fresh produce staff were really helpful, especially Debra...couldn't of helped me more finding things i couldnt see. Really appreciated it.

Went for lunch as forgot to prep some for today. Already anticipating a poor quality meal as they usually only have 1 vegan option and is never good. Today not even that, left empty handed, no lunch today

1. The security at Asda Gosforth needs a reality check. You’re not the gestapos or the police so stop acting like it when someone accidentally goes the wrong way with a trolly when you have kids with this stores strange one way in/out door system. Disgusting behaviour from the security guard on the door with their strange Covid like one way system. I’ll be reporting this to Asda management.

2. Never any checkouts open. An obsession with FORCING customers to use self service checkouts which are anything but. Open some actual checkouts. Get some staff and stop ripping the public off.

3. Go to another store. The quality of products have taken a dive in recent months. Especially the meat at this Asda.

Why oh why are goods being moved around
My wife and I are in our late 80s walking up and down the isles is an effort after a while, We give up on occasions.

CASH TILL 11 there are some repairs done to the food slider.
If this is the standard of your maintenance engineers they should be ashamed. I have mentioned this quite a few times over the last 2 years to staff in shirts and clipboards One "fix" was dangerous " H&S so it was repaired with some sticky tape. I see this one has been removed. You can tell the holes are still there.
So thats my say.
Oh you need more staff like JOHN on the trolleys well done John

The staff are lovely!
But the store itself has really gone downhill, lots of empty shelves and the stock range isn't great. Usually an excessively long wait at the kiosk or for parcel collection. Pizza counter is hardly ever open.
The store is tired and dated and could do with a refresh.

Should go for groceries and wide range of spirits. Bakery shop and cafe is a plus point. Its amazing to see wide range clothes in an affordable price. Loved to buy miniature of Glenfiddich and JD for a gift. Grooming section is also well maintained with lots of offers. If going from city center can go by metro if not taking car.

I have to shop here regularly due to having to do elderly family members shopping for them and have done so for the last 5 years. In the last 2 years I've noticed a rapid decline within the store. The same items are regularly unavailable. No doubt due to a lack of staff. So many empty spaces on the shelves and often see out of date products on the shelf. Like today I saw a 3 day out of date pack of ham.
