A lovely, efficient and welcoming experience today at Thomas Exchange Kings Cross branch! I was able to convert my British Pounds into South Korean Won within minutes, after trying several other stores on the Kings Cross high street! The staff were very friendly too, 10/10 service.

Not quite as good as a local fee-free ATM (if you can find one) with a fee-free card, but definitely the closest you'll find before you leave.

Must say I'm a bit baffled by the poor rating of this place. I've used Thomas Exchange before and wouldn't really want to use anywhere else.

I ordered some Korean won today while on the train down, walked into the office 90 mins later, paid, picked it up and left. The rate was superior to the likes of the Post Office as well (1532 to the pound - the online rate for the P/O today is 1496).

I'd just recommend ordering online before you pop in as you'll get a better rate. It's not difficult either - just pop in a request then pay when you arrive - no fuss.

They don’t display the current currency exchange rates for various currencies. Having travelled through Asia previously I would always look at the rates and do the sums prior to any exchange to ensure that I always had a fair exchange of currency. I just assumed that being in the UK it would be fair and hadn’t done that calculation. Today I handed over $950 Aud and received approx 403 pounds. It’s only now having a coffee sitting across the road I realise how terrible the exchange rate was. Better to use your Visa card that charges 3% which would have cost $30 on $1000 AUD. Instead it cost me approx $140AUD on $950AUD.
