As a customer of Lumon for more than x3 years, and having completed many transactions for a range of large amounts during this period, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and support that I have received from Lumon during the past x6 months. As a result of moving homes recently, I was initially refused the support from my Lumon client manager to make a large transfer, and instead had to make emergency arrangements with another currency exchange provider, who I was not a client with, but who provided me with immediate support. After I had spent almost half a day trying to make arrangements to make the emergency transfer, I then received a call from my Lumon client manager, who confirmed that Lumon were able to make the transfer after all (by this time it was too late). I have also experienced regular issues with the Lumon online portal, which seems to frequently experience glitches. I have since moved my business to a different currency provider, and I receive great transfer rates, better service and regular contact from my client manager, which I never received from Lumon.

Do not use this band of robbers. They tell you it's free of charges. They do not tell you it's NOT free of a MARGIN - that's what they take for the transaction.
They told me they were better than WISE and like a fool I believed their lies and lost over £1000 using LUMON to transfer the proceeds from the sale of my French house.
It should also be noted that the agency LEGGETT advise you to use LUMON. Do not listen their advice it's pure rubbish. Check it out for yourself on the internet. WISE is the better and as safe a method of transferring the funds Euros to Pounds.

The last review is spot on, very pushy until they get what they want (your money). When I needed to make my final and largest transfer, they tried to give me a poor exchange rate (as opposed to what they promised me in trying to get my business). Then they make the transfer into your account when it suits them. The information they provide around their Lloyds account details are apparently not correct either (was corrected by my own bank). I won't use them again.

I was very nervous of using this service after my husband died as he had always dealt with the finances but I felt supported from day one. Daniel was very helpful and informative and endlessly patient with me. The funds were transferred swiftly and exactly when I requested them. I cannot recommend this wonderful service highly enough. As many people are I was referred to Lumon by the estate agent for a foreign property purchase. My account manager Daniel was proactive, responsive and readily available by e-mail or phone and always kept an eye on the best time to exchange currency, which I reckon saved me about 2% on my purchase price. The process for both exchanging and then sending on was straight forward and clear. I will continue to use Lumon for my currency needs and would readily recommend them to others.

My suggestions for improvement (although not sufficient to dock a star) are:
1) I was referred to Lumon before I had made an offer on a property. I got an initial call to explain how they operated, which was fine, but then I received a calls weekly to see where I was up to despite me telling them I would contact them when required. The calls weren't pushy in any way, they were just trying to keep themselves top of mind, but I got sufficiently aware of the number that I did start ignoring calls from it. I suggest less frequent contact to prospective customers may be more productive.
2) You don’t get given an online account so any requests for information e.g. account balance, need to go through your account manager. This isn’t a big deal as they are responsive but it would be good to at least have access to an online information-only account in case you want to check anything out of hours.

My contact when I transferred proceeds from the sale of my house in France in 2020 was Jonathan Watson. The process was quick and efficient and the service friendly and helpful. Now 2 years later Jonathan found and sent on to me documents I needed for a house purchase, immediately, outstanding service! Thoroughly recommended.

Be sure to shop around when transferring money overseas.

I used this company for several years when called FC direct for overseas transfers.

When I contacted them again to enquire on a large transfer they seemed very aggressive in their sales approach.  Constant calls and emails whilst I was dealing with the property purchase.

When I was finally ready to transfer the first trance of funds, they then quoted me more than 8k more than other similar companies.  Then when I queried the fees, they offered to then look at offering a better deal. Not good.  If I had not queried they were happy to overcharge.  Will use another company.

The recent changes to the website made the process more time consuming and less informative as to when funds would arrive in my Euro account - when I did get through to the contact line, I was informed that many users were having difficulties yet no instructions as to the new process are given.

After a second call I was told I now needed to allocate the payment and confirm it (not previously required) it then gave me a date when funds would be sent to the account, what they didn't tell me that although they may send the funds on the given date, that doesn't mean they would reach my account on the same day.
I contacted the office and was told someone would contact me - no one did.
Disappointing !
